Week 5 Notices

We will be making our solar ovens at school this week. Can you please send along some aluminium / tin foil (enough to cover one pizza or shoe box), glad wrap or clear plastic (half a metre). If you have pizza boxes, please send them along. I will collect enough shoe boxes from the shoe shop for every child. We will be warming up our lunch in the solar ovens so children will need to bring along suitable food to be warmed. Alternatively, we might try making marshmallow melts (a biscuit with a couple of marshmallows on top!). If any kind parents would like to donate a bag of marshmallows, we would be grateful.

Friday Cross Country
We still require transport to go to the Redwoods on Friday at lunchtime. If anyone can help, please let me know. There is also a form that was sent home last week.
Children will eat lunch before we go. They will need their PE gear to change into and a water bottle to take to the Redwoods. Children will take their bags with them as they will need to be picked up from the Redwoods site at 2.30pm.

Examples of learning can be found when you go to the 'Shared Learning' tab.

Some of the ANZAC poems are now on display in our school library.

Library: Every Thursday

Homework
New homework has been set. There are also a number of links for children to access at the end of this weeks homework. Children will be researching these links to help them with their writing this week.

Week 3 Notices

Congratulations to all the children in Room 1 for bringing all their Holiday Home Reading logs back to school. We won an award for having 100% returns.

Congratulations to Julianne in Room 1 for winning the colouring competition for the Credit Union. Her picture is shown on the new competition information given to children on Friday.

Homework
New homework has been set. This week we are beginning to focus on energy in relation to sustainability. Homework will reflect this learning over the next few weeks. Please make sure your child learns the spelling words relating to the topic as this will help them with their writing this term.

Camp
Camp information has been sent home this week. Please ask your child for the camp booklet which each child was given on Tuesday last week.

Library
A reminder that our library time is on Thursday. Many children are forgetting to bring back their library books and therefore cannot get new books to read.

Home Reading Programme
If you are on the Home Reading Programme, a reminder to bring back your packs on Friday so that the books can be checked off and new ones can be issued.

This week we had a mock battle to reinact what the ANZACs went through at Gallipoli. Children learnt just how close the trenches actually were through this role play. Room 1 were the Turks and Room 3 were the ANZACS.

Room1, the Turks wearing their hats, hide in the trenches before the battle begins.
Mrs Todd handing out the ammunition - tennis balls!

If children were hit by a tennis ball, they were then wounded and had to wait until a cease fire so that their group could rescue them.

Our ANZAC information wall has spread right over the back wall. Children have used green paper to answer the questions.

Senior classes have been involved in making mosaic poppies for a wall display at the end of Room 1.

Children had buddied up and written wonderful ANZAC poems. They are displayed in class and you can also read them on your child's google site.
