Healthy Lunches Workshop

On 13 May, Jasmin Jackson from the Heart Foundation will be coming to present a workshop on healthy lunches.   All year 5 and 6 students will be attending and we would like to invite all St Mary's parents to attend.  The presentation will be from 1.30-2.30 in the hall, and I am sure will be very interesting and informative.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Week 2 Notices

Thank you to all the children and families that joined up for the ANZAC day service. A large number of children turned up (75 children were counted at the Lakefront) to march to the Events Centre where a very moving service was held.

ANZAC Liturgy
A liturgy will be held on Tuesday the 28th of April in the school hall starting at 10am. All families are welcome.

We will continue with our ANZAC/WW1 focus this week as the children are so interested in this topic. Thank you to all the families who have sent family memorabilia to school to share with the class. We began with children asking questions about ANZAC which we then put up on the wall. Children have since been adding the answers to the questions as they have discovered more information through research, reading articles and stories,  and through class discussions. Our wall display has now doubled and just about takes over the whole back wall of the classroom. Please come in and look at the display and share your child's learning.

Library is now on Thursday. Bring your library books back to exchange for new ones.

This is the last week that children can wear summer uniforms. All children will be in winter uniforms from next week onwards.

Check out the rest of Room 1's photos by clicking on the Shared Learning tab.

Week 1 Notices

Welcome back to school. I hope that you have all had a wonderful break.

We will initially focus on the ANZAC topic at the beginning of the term (see homework). We will then move onto 'Sustainability', in particular, sustainable energy. Look out for the Science Expo towards the end of this term.

There will be a short Go4It PE programme towards the end of this term, and then into Term 3.

Homework tasks have been set for the next two weeks. Please make sure that your child does complete their homework as it links with what we are doing in class. There is also some research that will help children prepare for the ANZAC topic that we will be covering this week.

ANZAC Parade
On Saturday the 25th of April, there will be a special ANZAC Parade for schools. It will begin at 9.00am at the Lakefront War Memorial (near Queen Elizabeth Hospital), and ends of the Energy Events Centre (it lasts around half an hour). If you wish to participate, meet at the War Memorial at 8.30am - look for Mr Macmillan and others from our school. Parents and siblings also welcome to participate.

Resurrection Liturgy
Room 1 and Room 7 children have combined to run the liturgy on Tuesday the 21st of April, 10am in the Church. All families are welcome to attend.

ANZAC Day Holiday Reminder
As ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday the 25th of April, Monday the 27th of April is now a public holiday.
