Note: Students need to bring their own morning tea, lunch and a drink in their school bag on the first day of their camp.








Departure Arrangements:
9am on Monday 21st September.
Students attending the camp are to bring their luggage and lunch and meet in the school hall. The roll will be taken, then students will leave in allocated cars for their departure. We will not wait for any students who are late for school.       
           
Return to School:    
We will return to school by 2.30 pm on Wednesday 23rd September.


Emergency Contact:
If, due to an emergency, you need to get hold of a student while they are at camp you may contact a St Mary’s Staff member, via Mrs Todd on 021 023 94928.

Accommodation:
Students will be accommodated in rooms within several lodges, grouped close together. There will be separate accommodation for boys and girls. The adult helpers will be assigned rooms within each lodge to supervise. Students are encouraged to bring sleeping bags, but if they do not have access to one, they need to bring sheets. A duvet, pillow and pillow case is supplied.
                       
Meals:                                   
The meals at camp are prepared for the students. If any student requires a special diet could you please indicate the requirements on the camp participation form, which needs to be returned to school by 15th May. The camp is able to cater for vegetarians and others who require a special diet for medical reasons.

Transport:
Travel to and from camp will be by private vehicles.

Parent Helpers:
Could you please complete and return the application form included in this information pack. We are limited to how many parents we can accommodate. We will make contact with all those who have offered assistance with further information.  Parent helpers will be expected to supervise a small group both at camp and during the out of camp activities.

Cost to parent helpers:
There will be no costs to parent helpers on this camp.

Cost:                          
The cost to each student is $185.00
If you wish to arrange automatic payments or start making regular payments to the office now please contact the school office. It would be appreciated if payment of the camp fee could be made by Week 1 Term 3. If there is any difficulty with making payment if full by this date could you please contact Mr Macmillan this term.  Please send the payment in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name, class, amount enclosed and with payment form enclosed.




Individual fundraising:
Some students might like to do some individual fundraising for their camp fee (weeding, mowing lawns, cleaning etc). A form is attached is anyone wishes to make use of it.


Programme:  
A copy of the camp programme will be on display in each classroom in the week prior to camp. Students will be placed in groups, assigned an adult as a Group Leader and will participate in a wide range of activities.
                                                             
Bedtime:                   
Students will go to bed at approximately 8.30pm and will be expected to be quiet between 9pm and 6.30am.

Medication:              
Please indicate on the Participation form if your child will have any medication with them at camp and provide specific written instructions for any medication that you require school staff to administer.

Gear List:                 
A list of items that students need to bring to camp is included in this information pack. Please name all items of clothing and personal gear        so that anything that ends up in lost property can be returned to its owner.

Money:                      
There will not be any opportunity to spend money while at camp. Please do not bring money to camp.

Telephones:             
The students will not have access to telephones during their time at camp. If a parent needs to make contact with their child in an emergency, this needs to be done via Mrs Nieuwboer or Mrs Dunkley.

Visitors: 
If you wish to visit us while we are at the camp please make prior arrangements with the class teacher.  We will not be able to provide meals unless prior organised, or accommodation for those visiting.   

Behaviour Expectations:
Students are expected to be courteous, honest, co-operative and responsible at camp and to show respect for other people and the camp environment. Students are expected to follow the instructions of teachers, parent helpers and camp staff at all times. Students attending camp will need to sign on the participation form that they agree to behave in an acceptable manner and that they understand the need to respect others and the camp environment. If the behaviour of a student causes concern to the teaching staff the contact person for the student will be phoned. If necessary the child may be withdrawn from the camp and returned home, with no camp refund.
                                   
Swimming:               
Students will need to bring their swimming gear and have a towel and plastic bag.  

First Aid:                  
There will be an adult in charge of first aid at camp. In the event of illness or injury, the staff/adults in attendance will make the decision as to what assistance is needed and seek professional help if this if necessary.  Any costs incurred in accessing professional treatment, will need to be reimbursed to the school.

Alcohol and Illegal drugs and substances including smoking: 
These are not permitted at camp by students or adults.

Baking: Please send some baking along to school on the day we leave (Please, no nuts in the baking). The baking will be shared out for morning and afternoon teas.

Backpack, or small bag, which the student will keep with them on the first day. This bag should contain:
  • Morning tea, lunch and a filled named drink bottle for the first day of the Camp.  Please make sure this is easily accessible and named (a disposable paper or plastic bag would be better than a lunchbox).

This form has been made available for individual students to use if they wish to find themselves some odd jobs at weekends or after school to assist with their personal camp fee.

Camp Participation -Student Agreement:

I understand that Camp is an opportunity for me to learn and for me to practise and gain skills in an environment outside the classroom.

I give permission for professional services to sought, in the event of any need for medical, emergency dental or surgical treatment. I give permission for anaesthetic or blood transfusions if they are considered necessary by the medical personnel involved. I will reimburse St Mary’s School for any costs incurred if my child requires a medical consultation, prescribed medication or other such services while on this trip.

I understand that a high standard of behaviour is expected at camp. In the event of my child’s behaviour being unacceptable to the teaching staff I understand that the child may be withdrawn from the camp and arrangements made for them to be returned home at my expense. I understand that if my child is withdrawn from the trip there will be no refund of the camp fee.

There will be up to 5-6 people in each bunkroom. Students are encouraged to bring sleeping bags, but if they don’t have access to one, they need to bring sheets and blankets/duvet. Students need to bring a pillow and pillowcase.
                       
Meals:                                   
The meals at Camp are prepared for the students. If any student requires a special diet could you please indicate the requirements on the camp participation form, which needs to be returned to school by the 15th of May. The camp is able to cater for special diets for medical reasons.

Transport:
